The Black Cats
Who are we?
Black Cat Aerospace stemmed from a 3 generation aviation veteran family owned business. Honor and integrity run deep and we want to share our experiences, skills, knowledge and candor with you on your aviation journey.
Meet Lt. Manvil Alfred Young the first generation Naval aviator in this story. He flew the PBY Catalina during WWII and was a multi-engine instructor. Lt. Young flew many night flights navigating over the Atlantic Ocean by way of the constellations. Once Alfred retired from the Navy he worked for American Airlines.
Why Black Cat? The Consolidated PBY Catalina "Flying Boat" was used extensively during WWII and had a post war career as a flying vacation home for some. Crews would load up with fuel and fly up to 24 hours searching for enemy targets. The allies soon learned that painting them black made them hard to spot at night, thus the "Black Cats" were born and were a staple to mission success in the Atlantic defeating German U-boats and Japanese targets in the Pacific.
